Is the industrial progress of AI to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) inexorable?
Is the creation of AGI inevitable?
Many leading AI scientists and industrialists believe the economic effect of AGI will be worth a minimum annual cash value of 10X global GDP.
The global GDP (2023) is estimated at US $105 trillion.
The cash investment in AI development (2023) is currently estimated at least US $120 billion.
Therefore, many leading AI scientists and industrialists believe this economic potential is leading to the inexorable emergence of AGI.
It can’t be stopped. But can it be contained? Nobody knows. The future is uncertain.
BUT since the AGI existential risk to humanity is real, then should AGI development be halted until mathematically provably safe?
