The UK has established a principles-based, pro-innovation regulatory framework for AI.

This guidance is intended to support regulators to interpret and apply the five principles within their remits as set out in the white paper. It outlines a range of considerations for regulators as they develop tools and guidance to implement the principles.

This is initial guidance which has been developed with input from regulators. We intend to develop and expand this guidance over time and will continue to work with regulators and other external experts as we do so. It is not intended to be a prescriptive guide on implementation as the principles are voluntary and how they are considered is ultimately at regulators’ discretion.
