1. FACT: COOPERATION IS EVERYTHING
- Humans (Homo sapiens) currently Control the Future of Life on Earth due to Intelligence and Evolution of Cooperation in very large Groups.
2. PROBLEM: DEADLY TECHNOLOGY (‘P(doom)”)
- The Probability of Human Extinction (aka “X-Risk” or “P(doom)” or “Apocalypse“) by ultimately losing Control to the inevitable Intelligence Explosion of Artificial Super-intelligence (e.g. AI => AGI => ASI) is unpredictable, unknown and believed by scientists to be between 1% and 100%.
- The average P(doom) of leading AI scientists is 10 to 20%.
3. REQUIREMENTS: ASSURED SURVIVAL
- P(doom) must be reduced to ZERO – extremely rapidly – to Assure the Survival of Homo sapiens.
- Machine intelligence (AI) can Never be Allowed to Gain Control of our World.
4. QUESTION ONE: SUFFICIENT HUMAN COOPERATION IN TIME?
- Can Human cooperation become sufficient to Solve the Problem, in time?
5. QUESTION TWO: CAN SAFE AI BE ENGINEERED IN TIME?
- Can AI assist Humans to Solve the Problem, before it is too late? (e.g. Can Human Engineering deliver AI with Goals we can Confidently control?)
6. HINT: MONEY. POWER. CONTROL.
- It’s all About the Money. Every Human wants Money. Every Human needs Money. Every Human Believes in Money.
- In Machine learning, Machine intelligence (AI) typically experience a Reward-function (aka “Reinforcement learning”)
- IF Humans do lose control to Machines, THEN Human survival is most certainly uncertain.
